A quick, colorful presentation to safely initialize your Trezor hardware wallet from the official onboarding page.

Inspect the package for tampering and confirm the hologram seal is intact. Trezor devices don’t ship with pre‑set seeds or PINs. If anyone gave you a device with a written seed phrase, do not use it.
If something looks off, contact Trezor Support from the official site and discontinue setup.
Visit trezor.io/start to download Trezor Suite, the desktop app that manages your device. The site auto‑detects your OS and offers the correct installer.
Run the installer and open Trezor Suite. You’ll be guided through connecting your device, installing/confirming firmware, and creating a secure PIN and recovery seed. Keep the app updated.
Connect Trezor via USB. If prompted, install firmware directly from within Suite. Verify the on‑device fingerprint/identifier shown in Suite matches your device.
Choose Create new. The device will generate a brand‑new private key and display your Recovery Seed (usually 12, 18, or 24 words) on‑device.
Write each word neatly on the provided card, in order. Never photograph, type, or store it online. Consider a fire/water‑resistant metal backup for long‑term durability.
Use a non‑trivial PIN. You’ll enter it on the device (and sometimes through the Suite’s scrambled keypad), protecting against unauthorized access.
Advanced users can enable a passphrase (25th word) for extra security. Model T also supports Shamir backup (SLIP‑0039) for splitting your seed into multiple shares.
Add accounts for Bitcoin, Ethereum, and many other assets in Suite. Each account derives addresses from your seed. Receive by verifying the address on‑device.
Initiate a send in Suite and always confirm the destination address on the device screen before approving. If the address differs, cancel immediately.
Keep firmware and Suite updated to get security patches and supported assets. Only update via the official app/site.
Use new receive addresses, consider CoinJoin (where legally allowed), and avoid re‑using addresses to minimize linkability.
Anyone asking for your seed, asking you to type it on a website, or offering “remote help” is trying to steal your funds. Stop and verify at the official link.
Select Recover wallet in Suite and enter your seed on the device, not on your computer. Confirm addresses after recovery to ensure you’re back in control.
After recovery, send a small test transaction first to confirm you restored the correct wallet—especially if you use passphrases or multiple accounts.
Use any of these—same destination, all official:
